We cling to the specifics—a plan, a person, a version of how things were supposed to go. But what we really want is something deeper: rest, connection, purpose.
In my latest Psychology Today piece I explore the idea of form vs. essence. It’s helped me live with more clarity and abundance and I hope this offering serves you, too.
That doesn’t mean it’s easy. On a recent hike, my close friend Tony gently reminded me that even as I grieve a breakup with a particular person, the essence I’m longing for—care, connection, feeling chosen—is still out there.
